Happy New Year from the GMG! (01-01-2008)
We here at the GMG wish all of you a Happy New Year, and look forward to all sorts of great things this year. There are several exciting RPGs in development, cool new add-ons for GameMaker games, and of course, the much anticipated GameMaker 4.0!
Download counter added to 'Game Downloads' page (12-24-2007)
So developers can better track the distribution of their games on the GMG, I've added a download counter to the 'Game Downloads' page due to popular request. The script logs your IP address so you can't artificially inflate your download count, so don't even try. Enjoy, and I hope this proves to be a useful tool for everybody!
Several new tutorials posted (12-22-2007)
Four new tutorials written by Silverwind have been posted in the 'Articles and Tutorials' section of the GMG. These include valuable lessons, include a grid navigation demo, which is becoming a staple in RPGs. Be sure to check them out!
Old games successfully uploaded! (12-20-2007)
All the old games have been successfully recovered from the old AOL boards, and uploaded to our file server. You can access the games here, or under the Downloads section of the site. Many of these games will need to be carbonized using GMCarbonizer, which can be found under the Developer Tools section. Enjoy!
Old game recovery project (12-19-2007)
So we all know GameMaker has been around for a while, but just how long is it really? Looking at the AOL archives, the first game was posted on March 6, 1996, called "Paratrooper Gunner v2.0." These old games are very difficult to find, because the AOL archives can only be accessed from within the AOL client, which is, well, horrendously outdated. So the Game Maker's Garage is in the process of downloading all of these games from the archive (600+) to make them available to users everywhere. Fire up your old macs, and get ready to play some old school GameMaker games!
The Game Maker's Garage is launched! (12-18-2007)
The all new Game Maker's Garage was launched today, providing a new home for users of Al Staffieri's GameMaker. The site provides news, game announcements, tutorials, downloads, and more to help create and distribute home-brew macintosh games. Read about the launch on the GameMaker Discussion Boards.
