i was looking at imac g5's that are cheap, i want upgrade but i need 128megs of video ram and thats the difference between regular imacs and the als versions, but whats als? and is there any way to recognize als from a regular imac g5? cause other than the video ram the rest of the specs are identical

Before you start kicking yourself later, get an intel mac. You'll be so much happier later when more OSes come out.

It should be written as "ALS", because it stands for "Ambient Light Sensor". It allows the screen to adjust for brightness automatically.

Going from an eMac 1.42 GHz to an iMac G5 2 GHz won't be a very big improvement. I would recommend saving your money and going for a Core 2 Duo iMac. Avoid the Core Duo models as these can't run 64-bit software and may very well be left behind in the next OS update.

Why is it too big? Is it falling off your desk or something? I use an eMac at the office and it's just fine.

My intel is 2.33 GHz with 1GB of RAM. it also has 150GB mem.

the battery is dead and you need it plugged in all the time (or buy a 30 dollar battery)

If I were to sell it to you, I could make do with 400-500$. Provided you live in the US.

one of those ebay adds says "faulty" and the other says "has scratches" which probly means it looks like someone cleaned the screen with steel wull. im really skeptical of ordering expensive things online, ide rather do local pick-up off craigslist

i have a custom desk thats really wide but only has like 2 feet depth which frees up alot of space in my room and i have to keep the emac at an angle cause its so bulky

i guess the ambient light sensor is hidden on imacs so you cant identify it

That post seems oddly out of place. Was it intended for another forum?

Ooh haha. This seems interesting.

Sounds like an e-mail was typed in the wrong text box.
