It seems, indeed, that he was a member of the "old" GMG forums.

He writes it "EqwanoX", yet the correct spelling is Equinox.
It seems that many products are called "Equinox".

I was a lurker on the old GMG. I think I posted a few times as a guest.  It was, believe it or not, the first online forum I had ever posted on, so I'm pretty sure I made a total fool of myself.

By the time it went down it was suffering from serious inactivity, I think.

It's a pity old web forums aren't well archived by the Internet Archive, as some of them can be interesting..

Yeah, I love the old stuff. Especially games, but articles and whatnot too.

It's surprising how little has changed from the old GMG in terms of what aspects of game development people were discussing.

i just remembered, the old gmg still exists, it was changed to the GMD "gamemaker disscussion", theres a link to it on the sidebar but mike closed the forums to update them and never updated them, that forum is where i started learning sc and released my first projects. and who could forget the deboggle with john jakovs, when he tryed to sell everyones games (accept mine) on his site without permission, then everyone was threatening to contact his parents, lol, it was hilarious. all i could think of is why didnt he sell MY games?!  >:(

Someday soon I need to restore the GMD.

The SilverCreator Plaza is a continuation of the SilverNetworks Plaza (est. 2000), where the second iteration of the GMG forums were started. (the first iteration was on EZBoards)

The GMG forums grew quite large so it was necessary to separate them from SilverNetworks. That's when the great split occurred and all of the GMG forums moved to a separate YaBB forum system. Things were fine for a while.

For whatever reason Syco felt it was necessary to launch the "GMU" (Game Makers Underground). He never launched anything more than a forum designed to exclude me from posting there. Posting was way down on the GMG Forums and I decided to close them down, as they were no longer being appreciated. However, the GMG hosted the official GameMaker forums, so the decision was made to hide all of the old GMG related boards, except Trash Talk. They are still there in the GMD database.

Ghost came along recently and launched the new GMG - the second iteration of the site and the third iteration of the forums.

I'd love to redesign the GMG. The current design is nice, but I think I could improve it.

EDIT:

It's too text orientated. We need eye popping graphics to showcase games and articles. ;D

In that perspective, it could be made more software/download-centric.

lolololo, that was hilarious, what happened to psyco. i cant remember why he did that, i think you might of had to many rules on the old gmg cause i remember it was a point to have no rules on the gmu

it would be so cool to integrate graphics of characters from peoples games into the site design. ghost should let you do that, hes not even around much anymore
