i just found an awesome command-line text-based web browser. Its called lynx. you have to download it, but its very easy I'm even making a video of me using it, and writting this post. How cool is that! I'll post the link once I stop the screen recording.

User friendly huh? It took me 20 minutes to find out how to get to the GMG, and 10 more to log on.

oh... i guess its easier if your more used to the command-line interface, even if it is pretty different controls.

I like lynx. Though it's not very high tech (or marketable), it is still updated and is quite useful if you want to do text-based / command line work. And since there is no GUI, JavaScript bloat or Flash, it is indeed extremely fast. Furthermore, the interface is pretty simple (move around with arrow keys, press enter to follow a link).

Agreed. Flash video is an aberration. It is uselessly slow and strictly proprietary. And every few days there's a new "control freak security update" with many many digits which you must install if you don't want hackers to steal your identity overnight. And don't get me started on the prevalence of excessive JavaScript. The web used to be a nicer place.
