Copy of GM found in the wild
« on: June 10, 2009, 05:51:22 PM »
I thought I would post this because it was neat.

I have a small company refurbishing old Macintosh computers (www.adoptamac.com). A lot are broken up for parts and others are sold whole on eBay and the website and such.

When one is broken up for parts the hard drive goes in a bin to be tested and wiped later. Today I selected some SCSI drives to wipe.

On this one particular 2 GB drive is a copy of GameMaker Lite v1.02. Unfortunately, there are no game project files, so I don't think they made anything with it.

Still, it's kind of neat to see a program like GM found in the wild. I made a copy of it, in case Al wanted it or anything. The rest of the drive is being wiped.

http://alstaffieri.com/oldsoftware.html#gamemaker

Above is a link to Al's GM Lite page. It's slightly newer (v1.2.1) than the version mentioned, and it requires Mac OS 9 or older to run. It's basically a free stripped-down (Lite) GameMaker. It can compile standalone apps, but lacks scripting abilities, and has poorer graphics tools (no Fill tool, for example).
