My First Wacom Sketch...
« on: May 08, 2008, 06:09:04 AM »
I dug out the old Wacom Tablet today, which I could never really get the hang of the last time I used it, but after an hour spent getting used to the interface (the curser appears on the screen depending on where the pen is on the board rather than the scrolling "regular mouse" style? Inconceivable!) I managed to churn out a pretty decent Manga sketch:

Who knows what this glorious newfound technology will bring for the future of GM games! I think I'll have another go at those LW character pics when I've gotten a bit better. Yup, I've a feeling this tablet and I are gonna get along juuuuust fine...

EDIT:

I've improved it a bit. Now the mouth isn't as cramped to the nose and the hairline is lighter:

how big is your tablet? i got one a while back, i thought it would make drawing 10 times easier and more fluid but its only 5" and i make alot of lines when i draw so its hard to fill in color, it only covers a small square on the screen and i know i can make it scale to the screen but thats dumb cause i need it scale to my hand movements, it just doesnt work for me. i ended up useing it a couple times by drawing on paper then tracing it on the tablet, i did that on the demons in the minigame in stans world 2 and the characters in castlequest revisited.

how would you use it on character tiles? theyre to small

Mine maps to the monitor it's hooked up to, so it's the whole width and hight.

Yeah, I wouldn't use it for tiles, but for full size art such as the race pictures in LW I'd say it will be really handy. The best pro of it is being able to use the eraser on separate layers. It's like using loads of sheets of tracing paper! ;D

That is why I am planning to get a tablet (Gorfmasta has one).

I also like Inkwell technology ::)

I wish I could draw like that on computer if I could all my games would be 5 times better due to graphic quality.
