I may have to use multiple connection tiles for the mountain though, so it's very helpful. Thanks Ghost! :)

I just can't squeeze a mountain into a 44x44 box without a block background color, and doing that makes the grid ridiculously apparent.

Here's an example of the shapes I'm experimenting with:

The scale is better.

Awesome. :)  With this you'll have to make fringe and mask tiles.

For the first time ever I've drawn a strength progression table which I'm perfectly happy with. It's truly balanced, so I'll probably use the formula for future games as well. The engine is nearly finished too, meaning soon the only task remaining will be designing content, which is the really enjoyable part.

The only big thing left before content design is drawing up the gold progression rate, a task I've always found to be a pain in the... er... prefrontal cortex.

I haven't sat down to work on ToF all week, but just today I implemented weapon "types". The weapon types are Blade, Blunt and Pole Arms, while the spell types are Fire, Ice and Thunder. Some enemies will be weak or resistant to specific weapon/spell types, like Skeletons for example which have a weakness against Blunt weapons.

Just a small update, but it's a pretty cool feature. :) I'll add this to the Roguesoft Battle Engine soon.

Thanks Hampster. :)

Well, at long last here's the second beta: http://www.mediafire.com/?zmngj0njd3j

It's not a substantial improvement from the last beta, but it has allot of interface improvements such as sprites not walking on top of each other and the Examine script not making text blink. (actually, I'm not sure if the first beta even had a working examine button, it was so long ago ::) ) The shops are finally up and running too, so you'll actually be able to buy weapons and armor as well as Battle Pets from the Creature Shop. In terms of actual game play there's only 1 quest and 2 dungeons to explore, but that's because I keep having to revamp the card script template and I hate having to re-coding each card every time I do so, thus I'm gonna completely finish the engine before designing the rest of the world.

Anyways, let me know what you think of it. :)

Nice themesong and logo you got there. I'm going to play the game now. :D

Very fun game. I enjoyed playing the first few secons already. You really improved it from the first beta. At first I was like: oh that must be a april fools joke, but it turns out it isn't! Very impressive game.

Well, now that Fools day is over let it be known that I did not forget about it I previously suggested in Teruri's topic. On the contrary, the day began with a very successful joke on my sister. I took a screenshot of her desktop (which is always cluttered with folders) and assigned it as her desktop background. I then moved all of her desktop clutter into a folder named April Fools and put it on her hard drive. It took her ages to figure out why she couldn't click on anything.

I thought I'd be the first to prank the GMG with my ToF beta, but just after I posted it I read Teruri's response to his topic and realized that I'd been beaten to the punch. (nice one Teruri, I completely fell for it! ;D ) Since a prank had now been pulled on the GMG, I thought everyone would be wary of further pranks and might see through my beta, thus I made out to have forgotten April Fools entirely to reduce wariness. (seems it didn't work though, hehe...)

Anyways, that was a most enjoyable day. Anyone else pull any good pranks?

LOL that's a good one I never would of taking a screenshot of the desktop and putting everything in a folder. (My sister's desktop is also cluttered full of stuff)
I must be dreaming (wake up me wake up) How could this have happened. Tireas' cry when he found his computer fallen over in his chair with it's screen shattered.

My sister told me there was a fire outside and I believed her I am so gullible. It was late so my mind pretty much thought April fool's day is over. I should of known she sounded to happy about it.
