Stagecast and Cocoa!
« on: August 01, 2009, 11:58:51 AM »
I found another game engine. It's called Stagecast and it's been around for a while. It can be found here: http://www.stagecast.com/
If you game can work on a grid, you can make it with Stagecast. No programming skills required! Just make a rule based on the object's current state and/or what other objects are nearby. And its only 50 bucks! (That's the only problem actually).

I also found that it's based on the program Cocoa, which is free, and works on system 9. It has fewer features but I think it's still a good program.
You can get it HERE:

http://www.stagecast.com/cgi-bin/templator.cgi?PAGE=Shared/documentation/COCOA_DOWNLOADS

Both can be used to make in-browser programs if people have the web player installed. Personally I like Cocoa because it's not outrageously priced.

Stagecast Creator is easy for kids to use, but powerful enough for teenagers to make cool 2D games. You also can play the games that other game creators have made and then change those games!

Doesn't sound like it's worth it. Tf could easily make games that run in the browser, has a scripting language, and is free. :P Now if I could only figure what to do with it now that I'm moving to Haskell.

Gandolf, stop talking about TF like that. Frankly, no one cares what you're going to do with it... and if you actually cared, then you'd keep working on it anyway.

Cocoa doesn't require any programming.....

And TF doesn't have a tutorial yet right??
Or did I miss something while on my trip?

Just saying...

Cool, I'll check it out! I didn't even know there was a site for TF yet. :P
My bad!
By the way, I'm actually starting a small project in Cocoa with a programming-based game (Roof-Bot). You make a list of commands for the robot and hit 'go' and see if it completes the assigned task. I'll put it up when I've finished the "prototype".

:D Now that would be a unique QOTM.

Can't wait to see the roof-bot game, sounds interesting. As for Tf, it's still going. :)

Titanium Forge is a multi-platform creator to make fast and powerful games with simplistic ease while getting you ready for future languages such as Java, C, ect...
Games created in Tf can be played on any newer OS such as Mac 10.4+, Windows, and Linux.
If you want some guidance on building a game in Tf, you could register on the forums, download the latest release, and follow a tutorial or look in the Example Games folder. If you need any help, just post.

Please note that the no smoking signs have been switched on, and the seatbelt signs have been illuminated. Please study the in-flight safety card in the seat pocket in front of you and familiarise yourself with it's contents:

Also, by the power invested in me by the uneducated masses, I have condensed the quadruple posts into one post.
