I'm taking a class in assembly.  One of the other guys in the class is into ROM hacking.  It's not something that I would want to do, but it's not impossibly hard.  If you know what the processor's registers are used for, you can make educated guesses about what the variables are.

EDIT: Forget what I said.  I was writing just to read my own words.  I really don't know crap about assembly.

Yes, I am in an assembly class.  What I meant was, I don't understand the subject as well as I previously thought, and I shouldn't have made a general statement about it.  I said that studying the registers would help you to decipher code.  That's akin to saying "reading can help you learn things", which is a dumb thing to say in a conversation.  Also, after attending class last night, I'm developing a better idea of what assembly is, and it's a lot more complicated than I thought.  Sorry for the confusion.
