Supa Pong Update (soon)
« on: October 15, 2008, 03:40:19 PM »
I wanna get Supa Pong's update out of the way before continuing work on ToF, as that'll be everything off my checklist. (well, MF eventually, but that'll be remade from scratch) As well as a few small stat tweaks (the Alien is way too hard!) the new update will feature an alternate character for each stage. I'll probably be drawing one or two myself, but most of them will be created by friend's and family. So I thought to myself, "hey, why not let anyone who's interested take a whack at it?"

So, if anyone's interested in designing a character and getting their name in the credits, let me know. :)

Here's the character template:

Progress is going good. I've improved the enemy's accuracy at tracking the ball to the center of the paddle, and I've also implemented an endless "practice" stage where you can choose the size of your paddle to practice with. The practice opponent gets harder as the game progresses, and the amount of times you rebound the ball is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Also, the level features a remix of Bouncy Seraphim. (lvl 2's music)

Here's a quick Jing of progress so far: http://screencast.com/t/D2EDqeRMFBe

It's just a demonstration of practice mode, as well as a quick look at one of the alternate characters.

Soon I'll finally be almost nearly ready to release the much anticipated (by me) Supa Pong 1.0.1! The update contains a number of additional features to the original release including a Practice mode, an 8th stage in Arcade mode and more alternate characters in Freeplay mode. I've also made some minor graphical and musical improvements to some of the existing stages. Here's a screenshot of stage 8:

I've also reduced the game's difficulty quite a bit, as not many players reached the last stage. I spent ages rebalancing the stats and now I've finally got them right. Here's the stat tables:

So, the update should be out soon, just a few final touches to add and a day or so of testing.

Yup. The last level is a dragon as depicted above, although it kinda looks like a Sea Horse to me now... ah well, who cares. I'm not drawing it again.

You're welcome, and thank you for playing my game. :) When you receive awesome feedback and support for a pong game, you know you're doing something right. ;D

EDIT:

Oh yeah, I'll have to wait until Al slays the latest GM glitch before releasing the update, as the compiled app won't work.

Congratulations! What do you think of the overall dificulty?

And no, the dragon isn't meant to be you. I was gonna draw you, but I couldn't fit your brian in the box.

Did you you just insult me by saying I have a big head or did you compliment me by saying I am smart?

No, it's neither. He was just explaining that your personal slave Brian just couldn't fit with you in the box. (He probably meant brain.)

Brian should be smaller so he can fit.

Well I intended it as a compliment indicating that you were smart, but as Gan pointed out I misspelled brain as brian turning the compliment into a bizarre accusation that you were in breach of the anti slavery laws.

I blame the iPhone's small keyboard. And Charles Xavier.

Charles Xavier's evil mind control powers must be stopped.
