Real Physics Engine
« on: January 10, 2009, 07:16:37 PM »
Hey, I had a great new idea for a physics engine and well... I made it.

This physics engine can be used to simulate real time physics on Earth, Mars, or in space. Just input the correct data and watch it go. You can also interfere by pressing the arrow keys or by changing the data at any time. You can make games with real physics such as a player jumping on a 2D side scroller.

Hope you like it:  http://www.mediafire.com/?4cyzweb2ehw

Also, compare it to the old physics engine if you have it.

P.S. If the timer is too fast, go to the source and change it to something slower.

maybe im a perfectionist but the ball never stops and curves as it slows down

The ball curves if it has a horizontal speed and will never stop unless you add wall friction. Currently the wall gives back just a bit more momentum then the ball had in the first place, but when you raise the wall friction, the wall takes away momentum. Low friction = rubber wall, high friction = concrete wall.

I really like this. You should make a simple basketball game or something to demonstrate its power. I'm not particularly good at it or I'd do it myself. :)

Holy crud. I just realized how powerful this engine is...

Tetris, bricks, ping pong, basketball, or that boombot game can be made in this. I will post an example shortly.

Edit: That last statement is an understatement.

Hey, here is an example. Isn't very refined, I have to write a 2 page essay. (Please excuse the bad graphics)

Any chance you'd be able to flip gravity around so that the ball bounces on the bottom of the screen?

Just type a negative before your gravity number. Same with speed and friction.
I usually set Ver-Gravity to -10 to -20 and wall friction to 1.5 to 3.

There's the new link ^. I'm not going to try out your engine Eq. :)

That is way cool. Way better than mine. Great job Eq. :D I hope this catches more people to build nifty games with, I have a new idea that will allow game development a bit easier with this engine.
