Holidays and Vacations
« on: December 13, 2011, 09:20:17 AM »

Luckily most of my finals are actually done, except a few classes, because teachers want to get out early too. I'm finishing the Economics one and I didn't totally bomb my test in Japanese! ::)
I'll be sure to post photos of my robot this week.
Then we're going on a trip to California. We're renting a sailboat. It'll be different because I've been sailing but not on a boat this big. And we usually go visit relatives in Montana over break if we go out of town...
What are all of you doing?

Wow that sounds exciting. I wanna see pics of your robot, maybe even a vid.
Gratz with the Japanese final. You can now hit on asian girls... in their own language.

My vacation consists of taking a deep breath, sitting down in front of the fire(with a cup of hot cocoa), petting my cat and embarking on a 24/7 journey into the depths of web creation.

Japanese? Lucky. We only have French and Spanish.
Oh, and lol, if you don't capitalize Spanish, it's a spelling error, but if you don't capitalize French it's ok. Favoritism much?

I just finished a course in OOP using Java, and another course in VB.  Feels good to be done with those, especially VB.  But now I have almost nothing to do.  My holiday vacation (Christmas btw) will consist of sleeping in late, relaxing, and occasionally working on my game project.

Sounds like an epic way to spend the break. I just finished a Data Stuctures programming final today, only got 3 more finals until I'm free from the shackles of college. At least until next semester...

Yes I know I have bad spelling, it's what makes me such a good programmer!

No travel plans at the moment.  I'm done with school so I only get a week off my job.  I think I will do some work revamping the GMG with Gan, and maybe try to finish up my SC project that has been near completion for three months now.   :P

Speaking of old projects I'm still reeeealy bummed that Light Maze is both locked in a hard drive in the broken computer and incapable of running on the new one.

Now see the reason LM was relatively easy to make (and ran so fast) was:
A. I had color detection and could just draw obstacles such as your trail on the canvas, and
B. It has tile maps which also use the canvas and inherently work with the color detection!
I could try to convert it, but I'd have to add code for the collision with trails (checks EVERY line) and work out how to make the maps without using more than 100 sprites. I just don't know. Maybe?

Aaaaand wait for Gan to tell me to wait for his amazing HTML5 thing because it does all this and SO MUCH MORE! (kidding Gan)

EDIT: If I sat down with that tile engine I just made it might actually work because NO SPRITES. After all, LM was going to use the drawing commands originally anyways,  ;D :D it all stemmed from my realizing you can draw anything on the TRON game besides the two players' trails. But man I still miss that program. :'(
