Yeah, indie is cool too.
There's a sort of majesty to homebrew games that's hard to define, particularly RPGs; the thrill of entering a world filled with magic, monsters and mystery... all composed by the mind of a living breathing person somewhere else in the world. Not an industry professional, just some ordinary guy with ideas. He probably comes home from school/work tired and hungry, fixes himself something to eat, flicks though TV as as he eats it, then
BAM! An idea pops into his head and he scribbles it onto a piece of paper with a mouthful of whatever it is he's eating.
That guy's got a story to tell; the RPG is just his chosen medium. It might only get played by half a dozen people, maybe none at all, but his story is out there, somewhere in the mists of existence. Just one more secret treasure. And who knows who might happen upon it by chance? And what will they think when they enter it?
EDIT:I'd still love to do that GMG documentary.
