Documentary?
« on: April 27, 2009, 05:05:49 PM »
Should the Mac GM community get it's own documentary?

I got the inspiration for such a documentary from the BBS Documentary (it's a very good series, you can watch most of them on Google Video link)

What do you think? Stupid idea? ;)

Not a bad idea... we should make a video advertising the GMG and spam it all over the internet!

If there was going to be a documentary, someone has to

  • Get money
  • Get a camera and clip on microphone
  • Go to the States and spend months travelling
  • Get addresses of all the people who need interviewing (Al, Mike, GM users from long ago, newcomers, etc)
  • Get a website for it
  • Duplicate DVD's
  • Sell them

It looks like an expensive ordeal... but if I have the cash (and if I can get through US customs with all that shit ;D) then I'll do it.

Edit: Or it could be a documentary over Webcam chat?

Thats much more realistic... and (no offense), I doubt anyone would buy a documentary about a community based around an obscure mac game maker.

If I lived 2 hours from Al he'd have to move to a different country. "Morning Al! Just thought I'd pop over and see how 4.0 is coming on- oh sorry, am I interupting breakfast? Good, I'll help myself! Say, did you get that email I sent about the 3.9 features suggestions? Al? Say, why have you got your hands over your ears? Ear ache eh? Yeah, I get those. Especially when you're in a conversation with someone who won't shut u- hey, where're you goin'? Spontanious cross country run eh? I'LL GO WITH YOU!"

Anyways, I like the idea of a documentary.

If I lived two hours away from Al, I'd hold a party for him where everyone just runs about doing stupid stuff. I ought to really, seeing as I've been freeloading off the same licence of GM I bought circa-2001. :-[

(Which, incidentally, was the first and only software I actually purchased.)

I'd love to travel around and get together with other GMG members, except for the small problem of me being 15 years old and in school.

I can't drive yet, and my parents would never let me take a plane by myself to see people I met online.

We could all get on a video group chat while playing an online game together. (Ex: Oberin, partying on Lerilen square while talking/video chatting each other)
