Mac OS 8.5
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:12:14 PM »
Hey, I'm trying to get my pc to run Mac OS 8.5 by using Basilisk II. Turns out you can't run anything higher than 8 and nothing lower than 7. So, 8.5 is perfect for the things I need done on my pc.

I've searched and searched, couldn't find 8.5 anywhere. Would any of you guys happen to have this?
I have Mac OS 7,7.5,8,9,9.2,10,10.1,10.2,10.3,10.4, and 10.5.

If anyone has this version, could you guys host it on filedropper.com and stick the link up?

Thanks,
-Gandolf

I bet when he said "Bigger than 8" he meant "Bigger than 8.x", so any version of 8 will work. As for the system files themselves...

I couldn't find it anywhere either.. D: Sorry!

Don't worry guys. I found a work-around. So now I have it working with OS 9. So it's all good.

I think the last version supported by BasiliskII is OS 8.1. I'm not 100% sure though. BasiliskII emulates a 68K Mac, so it can't run PPC-only versions of MacOS. I recently tried SheepShaver to run OS 9 on an Intel Mac, but my only copy of OS 9 that is old enough to be compatible is "tied" to a specific Mac, so I haven't had luck with installing it.
