GMG Cup-Offical Rules
« on: December 02, 2010, 08:46:33 PM »
This is just to clear everything up.

Tools:
I'm just going to allow SC and GM, for the reason that, A) we all have around the same limits, and B) we all know how to use it.

Graphics:
Graphics must be original, that being said, I have no problem if you base your sprites and such off others, (like my avatar). You must of course have the original creators permission.

Theme: There is none.

Engine: As there's no reason to make your own gridcode and such when its out there, you may use other's engines, just add it in the credits or splash screen if using GM.

Development
You may work on your engines now, but no "game" work(graphics, music, etc.) should be started until the 20th (as to provide everyone with an equal chance). I would use makeshift sprites until the 20th.

Games are due January 20th. Voting begins next day.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Stickied. Also I remember WH saying something about keeping DevBlogs. Lets all keep them in one place if we're going to have them. I suggest in Contests and then move them to trash talk/announcements when the contest is over and the games are released.

Awesome, thanks for organizing this Gnome!  I've got a few ideas and I should probably pick one so I can get started on the engine.   ;D

So I can't use any language I want? So much for my 250 wolves in the forest game.

This statement is confusing "Graphics must be original." and "You must of course have the original creators permission." If you use someone else's sprite it isn't original, and if you base your sprite on someone else's how could you ever know the first person who made similar sprite? Also, why would graphics have to be original?

More diverse games, more creativity. Won't feel like your playing the same game a bunch of different ways when the contest ends.

Also sorry for my terrible grammar.

what?! we have to make our own graphics?! thats bullshlt! your not being considerate of the developers, doing small pixel art is difficult and extremely draining, let us use silverwinds tiles. can we vote on this?

Well the way I see it, I'm giving you a month to do them, plus you've had more then a month to start your engine. Plus, everyone on here can make their own tiles, I JUST REALLY DON'T WANT TO SEE EVERYONE DOING SILVERS TILES. Again, you can edit them, I have no problem with that, but a exact copy is banned, if more people agree with you I will consider.

TD, to anwser your questions, if you can't find the original creator it's alright, I was more or less refering to anyone in this forum, and what language do you want to use?
