Welcome Harry!

I voted for Arcade.  Although attempting to make a board game in GM or SC would be interesting, it would be fairly difficult, especially for making an AI opponent.

To Harry: If you give the game a arcade-like look and feel to it, I think it would fit right in. Arcade games are a pretty broad theme, I have seen a whole bunch of different kind of games in a arcade. First person shooter, sidescrolling adventure, maze games, pac-man, racing, card games, and even a little game kind of like yipe.

That sounds like a fun game, Harry.
I must be dreaming (wake up me wake up) How could this have happened. Tireas' cry when he found his computer fallen over in his chair with it's screen shattered.

Yes, you may. The point is you have to include a component of the theme chosen in your game, so even if the theme isn't online, you can still include online functionality in your arcade game. =)

I voted for arcade as well :)

Maybe I'll slap together a time crisis style shooter...

My game's going quite well. It'll contain more music tracks than any of my other games, not including the SFX loops in QoM and MF. I'm composing a few of the tracks note by note, and one of the them in particular is really awesome. I still can't believe how versatile GarageBand is.

I've designed a cool new banner for Roguesoft's homepage. It contains graphics from nearly all of my games. Why post about it in this topic you ask? Because it contains two characters from my contest game, giving you guys a sneak peak! ;)

EDIT:

Oh, and for those of you who don't know the Roguesoft site address, (inconceivable at this stage) it's http://www.roguesoft.co.uk/

Here's my entry for the contest, made in Silver Creator:

http://www.savefile.com/files/1646052

It's a simple game where you shoot gnomes. I'm sure a lot of people have made games like this in the past, but I made one anyway. :)

There's one (minor) problem with it: after you finish the last level the game is supposed to quit, but I couldn't find any way to accomplish this. Maybe someone with more knowledge of Silver Creator can help?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. Do I get extra points for finishing early? ;)

Here is the command for quit:

Code: [Select]
Quit

I know, it is very complicated, but with a little practice, you will be able to use it in any of the games you make.  ;)

Also, I played your gnome game. It seemed...  interesting. Though what did the smiling, happy-go-lucky gnomes ever do to you?

There's a whole 'nother month where you could stick in a storyline if you want to.
It would make the game more interesting.

Wow! The graphics in Gnome Slayer are beautiful! Did you draw them yourself? I find the levels quite long, and very hard, (like Pop a Penguin in Stay Tuned) but the graphics make it really professional. :) I got to level 3 before they swarmed me. I like the way you don't get bumped back to level 1 each time you lose as well.

Pretty nifty game Ledorax, and I'd love to see more added to it. :)

How embarrassing. Why didn't I think of that?

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you like the graphics, they took a while to draw. :)

I think I'll heed your words and add some more to it. There are currently only three levels but I think I'll add two more just to make it longer. And maybe make it slightly easier as well.

Also, does anyone know of a good icon making program that's easy to use?

I like Pixen. Great program for making very small detailed pictures.
