Not really...
Ok, so when you get into a battle you're magically transported to a grid. Then, you highlight the tiles along the path that you want your character to move along. Then you can click redo to reselect the path, or click move. Selecting move makes your character travel along the path you selected. Then, it's the AI's turn to move. The AI does the same thing, it selects a path of tiles to move along, and then follows that path. After the movement phase is over, the battle starts. You and you opponent can move around freely within a small area around the tile that you moved to during the movement phase. You can click in a direction to fire a long ranged weapon in that direction, you can hit the space bar to preform a melee attack, or you can use an item. All of that occurs in realtime. After 11 seconds, the real time battle phase is over. The health lost by you and your opponent during the battle phase is subtracted from your current health points. If either of you are out of hit points, then the battle is over. If not, then it goes back to the movement phase and the process start over from your current positions.
I don't think I can be any more clear than that...
