So I'm gonna try to change my sleep cycle into a Dymaxion cycle. Any of you guys ever tried something like this and have a few tips or something?

I've heard it can slowly drive you mad... I suppose it depends on your schedule, are you doing it now because it works during the Summer?

I'm liking that dymoxian sleep schedule.

America should switch to it. It'd be epic. Productivity would sky rocket.

Resting four times a day would mean you have to have a place to rest unless you're going to travel between home and work more often but it is a really interesting idea. The section on Biphasic was kind of funny. Also of note is that these odd cycles would be great for someone who was self-employed.

EDIT: I'm going to have a class over this Summer AND I'm looking for a job otherwise I might actually consider one of these since I have some time off.

I can sleep anywhere.

Sleep is for the weak, tea is for the strong, and cake is for everybody

Mmm cake.

I figure, sleep for an hour at midnight, sleep for an hour at 6am, sleep for an hour at noon, sleep for an hour at 6pm.
Definitely do-able.

I sleep for 6 hours, then I wake up, eat, drink tea, and then sleep 'till the caffeine kicks in, then I go for a walk, then I start my day. Not tired until like 10 PM. Works really well. I don't think I could function on 4 hours a day, though...

Why go back to the normal cycle for exams? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this supposed to keep you even MORE refreshed? Because they're really good short naps... It would be good for a student like myself. Of course apparently it's also easier to switch schedules after the first time you try this.

I'm trying it out too, by the way, this is "Day 3" of keeping a timer on hand. o-o I'm following the advice of the blog that page links to. http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/10/polyphasic-sleep-log-day-1/ Which suggests that it's fine to take extra naps at times when you're the most tired if you always keep them under the usual 30 minutes.

I did great with timing until today and it felt weird missing the 12:00 nap so I must be doing something right!

I'm going back to monophasic during exams because theres a lowering if cognitive ability die to the sleep deprivation. It's a fine amount of cognitive ability for programming if you have just the right amount of whiskey in your system (xkcd reference).
So I can't do Dymaxion w/o missing lunch everyday so I'm switching to the Everyman-cycle as of tommorow.

Okay so you're right the Dymaxion is NOT the same as the Uberman, (and I feel kind of stupid) and yeah I may switch to try the Uberman cycle next, where you feel amazing and always awake rather than the Dymaxion where you're always awake and a bit tired. Summer classes aren't until the 20th! It might mean kind of starting back from square one today but hell at least I'm ahead on the loss of sleep to help kick it off. *facepalm*

SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK.

Here at the GameMaker's Garage, we claim to "make games with Macs", but in reality, we're not really focused on making games (or even gaming in general), and we don't all use Macs.

Mostly, we're just obsessed with sleep.

Yeah if Gan's having as hard a time as he claims getting motivated to work on his game he should see if he can re-implement the QOTM. God I need to work on my game this Summer what have I been doing with my time? I've even tried to to the sleep thing to obtain MOAR time. Too much spare time, not enough mmmmmotivation. But that is nothing more than an excuse. I'm gonna try to clock exactly how much time I've spent on projects each time FROM NOW ON. Starting now. I'm opening Processing and making a little square collision box man jump around like a boss. 2:24 PM.
