It really reminds me of Myst... God I wish I had a PS3 right now. I love this kind of thing. The multiplayer aspect is a brilliant idea, reminds me little of an experiment I found in the "Do Make a Not-Game" mini Ludum Dare. And of course Myst online.

Which just reminded me, that I kind of wanted to try doing something like that with unity.

PS: funny how one of the best ways to get people to work together online is to make it totally anonymous and, for the most part, without communication.

on a serious note though, however awesome, it is a BAD idea to ever buy a console to play one 3 hour game. I was actually considering buying a PC to play Portal when it came out. Thank goodness I didn't....

In 20 years you'll be able to emulate it ;D

It's kinda lame, a lot of the console games I've wanted to play are exclusive to XBox or Playstation or Wii and I can't afford any of those let alone all 3.

But yeah one day there might even be emulators.

I like to think that one day computers will reach a point where the general user won't need them to be any faster, meaning prices will slowly drop. And the focus will gradually shift more toward trying to develop better software and compatibility.
For example, it's only logical that graphics tech will to eventually reach a point where graphics have the potential to be so detailed that no company would have the time to program in that much detail.

Wanna make a field of flowers?
Then the program spends time growing the field and generating it. Which probably takes a ton of processing power.

That game looks awesome.  It reminds me of Ocarina of Time, except without all of the quests and items and stuff to keep track of.  Just a really relaxing game.

I know a good example.  There's an FPS called .kkrieger which uses procedural generation.  The executable is only 97k on disk, but it generates very complex 3D graphics which use up 300 MB of RAM.

Soft bodied 3D collision physics in games is still terrible... mostly.

A system's power doesn't really matter. The Xbox 360, one of the most modern consoles, has games that look far worse than games on the Gamecube, and underpowered 6th gen console. Wind Waker still looks really good because of the art style.
