Gan's Resolution: To finish projects
« on: October 02, 2011, 07:44:02 PM »
I've abandoned 3 very potential projects that are(were) very far in development.
Recently I've started work on one of them and was making nice progress.
But then it(I don't know what to call it) struck, things slow and I just don't want to continue. I find excuses and I look for things to waste my time.

I'm tired of this. I've thought a lot about this over the years since I've been at the GMG and I'm sick of it.
So guys, I want to make a resolution. A resolution to be courageous.

To be courageous means to have the discipline to refuse to make excuses, to not fear a programming challenge even when it looks impossible, and the tenacity to continue on a project when it's not looking so bright.

These three projects are Quest of Magic for iPhone, HackSilver for iPhone and Avisaria for Mac.

My resolution is to have the courage to finish these three projects no matter the difficulty.
I would like for you guys to hold me accountable, to push me to finish.
Can you guys help me?

It was like everyday.

Hey gnome remember all the development I made in Avarsia?

Yeah well, I'm porting the whole thing to a whole new language!
This Cannot be, NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Haha yeah. Avisaria started in XW, moved to VB6 then to VB.net, then to Java and now in Objective-C.
Except now Avisaria is being programmer half in C(for speed) and half in Obj-C(for ease of use).

This is the language it's gonna stay at, mainly because of the potential of the App Store and Mac platform.

I wish you every success in such a noble endeavour Gan! Numerous of my own projects fell victim to "it" over the years and were robbed of completion, so I applaud your attempt to metaphorically spit in "it"'s face by completing more projects. Best of luck old chum!

Can anyone say "Island Adventure" Lol or how about "The Epic Maze of Scary Monsters" or countless other failed attempts at RPGs. But what I really want to see finished is spritenav, because it was the farthest any of us has ever gone in making an shooting game.

There's at least two mighty fine quality shooting games made with SC. I can't remember what they're called though, hmmm...

Wizard! I spelled his name correct, but isn't Gandalf from lord of the rings spelled Gandalf?;

I'm not quiet into the current challenge, since I'm working on a long term game, but this might be just what your looking for. A dead line, and goal. Plus the exposure of this website.

first link is the video I learned about these competitions from, and second link is the current challenge that just started 4 days ago! Perfect time to join

Sounds like an awesome challenge and a great way to finish QoM and HackSilver!

Hah and yeah I'm not the awesome Wizard, I'm similar but slightly different. One letter of difference.

The only person that's as cool or incredibly close to the cool-ness value of Gandalf the White would be Silverwind. He's a cool guy.
