Any way to import wav files as sounds into GM?
« on: December 11, 2008, 03:50:09 PM »
I have a file playing (it is a music game) but I want to be able to play seperate sound effects at the same time. The only way to do that is to import the sound to GM, but GM currently only supports .snd files.

Is there a Mac OS X native .snd converter, or is there another way I can import these files?

Thanks!

If your comp has Flip 4 mac they should run using the movie command (I think)

If you want I can attempt to convert them to MP3 on my PC

Unfortunately, that solution requires that the user also installs Flip4Mac. Have you taken a look at Amadeus for OS X? The demo should let you save as a .snd.

If it doesn't convert it to a .snd, it definitely converts to .mov format, so you can just play it using the MOVIE command.

I'm already playing a song the whole time so I don't know if the .mov command will work in this situation. I'm not sure if overlaying movies is possible!

Check this out: http://www.dekorte.com/projects/shareware/SoundConverter/. It supports .snd conversions from pretty much any format.

I have a question. Does recording a sound in GameMaker work in OS X 10.5?

I can test that the next time I'm on my sister's computer. Probably tomorrow. :)

Why would it not?

Why would it not?

Because QuickTime Player doesn't play snd files anymore, so I was wondering if Apple's built in recording of snd sound files was no longer supported.

Hmm Quicktime doesn't support snd? well I guess it is like a 10 year old sound format.
