I downloaded a pretty impressive free iPhone RPG the other day: http://www.undercroft.com/

Although it's made by the guys behind RuneScape, the game's structure is extremely simple. Basically you explore an enclosed area of the overworld, find the 3 or 4 hidden dungeon entrances in it, explore the dungeons then return to town with loot, to purchase upgraded equipment of course. Then you move onto the next section of the overworld and repeat the process.

I'd love to make a short game like this sometime.

Or you could just wait until Silver makes a similar game.   ;)

I wish I had the time! All of my days go into work and most of my nights go into church related things. I sometimes jot down ideas for new games though, or unfinished existing ones. After a 12 work shift on Saturday I actually got a decent amount of work done on the RSRPGE. Healing items are almost complete now, and I'm working on ranged weapons and spells.

I'm still really exited about Elathondréoth, and hope to release it before another year goes by.

You would only need an iPod touch to play iPhone games, then you don't have to get a long contract. Or maybe get an old iPhone 2G and then crack it for TMobile.

Read the fine print:

Existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS should check with AT&T or use www.apple.com/iphone/buy. For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB). In CA, MA, and RI, sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of iPhone. Service may not be available in all areas or at the signal strength, rates, speeds, or bandwidth as demonstrated. Wi-Fi Internet access required for some features; broadband recommended; fees may apply. Some applications, features, and services are not available in all areas. Visit www.wireless.att.com to check AT&T network coverage in your area. iPhone is configured to work only with wireless service provided by AT&T. Warranty information available at www.apple.com/legal/warranty/iphone. When available, transferring your mobile number to a different service provider will terminate your service with your existing provider; termination fees and other charges may apply. Go for an 8gb iPod touch. I wouldn't bother with a first generation.
