Third GMG Game Making Contest?
« on: November 16, 2008, 10:02:27 AM »
Any news to when this will be announced? School has finally calmed down a bit, so I've got time to actually complete Nel's Journey, and sumbit it.

The 3rd GMG Game Making Contest will be an all-engine contest held in January or February 2009. The time limit will be 2 months. I'm still deciding on a theme, and looking for sponsors.

Can you make it not have a theme? I find that contests are always more fun when you have more freedom in what you can make.

In silverlight or average vb.net coding?

Mono looks interesting, if you can get it working than I will probably try it out.

-Gandolf
P.S. I have lots of vb.net apps that could be converted over.

Quick question for ghost: would it be alright for me to make a game for a system other than a mac (GBA, dreamcast, ect.) if it is playable on a mac through an emulator?

MONO is more frustrating then I originally thought...

Personally I think a theme is a good idea. Without direction nobody seems to complete anything.

A *good* platformer game would be pretty hard to make in GM or SC... I know the contest is all engine but GM/ SC entries should be possible. If you really want to go with a theme make it less limiting... something like "any game but it must use a tile engine" or "any game but it must have physics" or something.
