Forum+Chat+HTML5 GameMaker Development: Dec 17

[list bull-blackarrow]
  • The site will be updated to Silverwind's design, shown here: http://www.gamemakersgarage.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1323658701
  • The forum will be upgraded to the old template or (at least I'll try to make it look like the old template).
  • The chat box will get message sounds, /custom will allow 's, and I'll probably do some other tweak age. Also fix a bug where messages get chopped off after so many characters. In fact end tags can get sliced and alter the font of previous messages. Try to integrate the chat box into the forum. Like, it'd be nice to see who is online in the chat box. Also it'd be useful to have the chat box work off of people's usernames and to make it so people can't use the chat box unless logged in. (It'd also be nice if the chat box wasn't iFramed in so cookies could store properly on iOS devices) Make the chat box completely dependent on the GMG instead of on outside sources.
  • I'll begin development on the HTML5 GameMaker. As discussed in the HTML5 GameMaker thread.
I'll be on and off the forums until the 17th. My finals end the 16th. Gonna be studying like a madman.
Post anymore suggestions you guys think would spiff up the forums.

Here's what the GMG's future roadmap looks like:

(1) Update the GMG's main site.
(2) Update the forums to fit with the site.
(3) Update the chat box with awesome new features.
(4) Make the wicked awesome HTML5 GameMaker integrated with the site.

It's gonna happen exactly in that order.
Remember the date, Dec. 17th.

You mean like a madman wouldn't.
It's not at all insane to study.

Than I must've been a madman before I started studying. I never use to study.

Whoa! Talk about intensive progress. In a single blow we struck 3 items off the GMG roadmap!

Now all that's left is the HTML5 GameMaker. ;)

Chat is weird in Firefox again. But I should use Safari for GM5 anyways.

Haha yeah. After I finish updating everything, I'll go from browser to browser fixing incompatibilities.

The text editor we've been using in programming class had a really nice feature, where if you hit return it goes to the next line and adds the same number of indents that the last line had. So you don't have to hit tab on each new line. It's automatic indentation. :3
