Adventure Game Contest?
« on: May 22, 2008, 02:57:47 AM »
Anyone interested in an adventure game contest? It wouldn't be for prizes or fame, but it would hopefully produce a few more games of GM's original genre.

I think that would be a good idea, I have just started on a new game. Though I'm going to try to put GMOD in it, so I would have to wait 'till its fixed.

Well after I finish labyrinth I was thinking about making a sequel. But in a completely different style. In the beginning of the game it says you were accused of murder and put in the labyrinth. So in the sequel clear your name of the murder charges. Or it could be at the same time, like your best friend is trying to clear your name of the murder charges while your in the labyrinth. It sounds like a great concept to me.

I finish school on June 10, and I haven't had time right now to design the title design-- as I said, I'll do so when I have time (around June 10). Don't worry, it'll happen, and I'm sorry it's been taking so long. =/

Well, I suppose there'd be some fame involved, but like I said the contest's aim would be to produce more games. There seems to be a lack of GM activity nowadays, what with me and TD being the only ones working publicly on projects, and so I thought a contest might generate some action.

The reason I suggested the adventure genre is because there's such a shortage of adventure games made with GM, which is both unusual (since GM was originally tailored for the development of the genre) and a shame. (since adventure games, while being hard to make are usually very enjoyable and are favored to other genres (such as RPGs) by a larger audience on small scale games)

So, what say yee mutinous dogs?

Lets set a date then. How about starting on the 15th of June and ending on the 25th of July? That would give us 40 days.
