iPhone Project: Sound Thread

We might as well have a separate thread for music and sound development.

I have a friend who is offering to do sound effects for us, so I need some information:

1) A list of effects we need.
2) The preferred byte size
3) the bit rate

Hmmm... The game can handle many formats, preferably MP3s. It'd be nice to have seemless repeating songs, preferable below 10mb. Bit rate, not sure...
We probably won't need action sounds, just background music...
Main menu music, maybe a bit mysterious... Adventurous music...

Not at the moment. If need be it could be a version update. I'd like to see what he can do with background music. :)

Like before, I don't understand why you're turning down an offer to make the game more engaging. This wouldn't even require technical changes on your part. We already have people doing music (Silver and I?), so would it really hurt to work on effects?

I'll let him know about background music though, it can't hurt to have more.

If he's willing then tell him to get cracking. Better to have additional resources and not need them than visa versa.

I use trackers to get a nice old-school chiptune sound, right now I'm using MilkyTracker.

I don't even know what the guy I mentioned in this thread uses (I assume Audacity, everyone seems to use that), but I have another friend who uses Garageband to great effect.

You use Garageband as well, right?

BTW I started making some creepy ambient tracks for dungeons :)

Yeah, I use Garageband. I'm no good at instrument creation though, so most of my tunes sound kinda flat.

Yeah, if the guy wants he can go for it. Make sounds or music.
Sound effects for certain actions sounds like a good idea.
I may take a try at making music myself with Redd's tool or Garageband if I can figure it out.

Tune isn't bad. Not sure the instrument is the right one for it though. Has a bit of a techy tone.
