Has anyone ever played Myst or any of the games in the series? I've had realMyst (an updated version with better graphics) for a while and it's really cool.
My interest in it was renewed when I found out about an online Myst game (current name is Uru Live) that looks awesome but I can't play it on this computer.

realMyst was a pinnacle in game creation. Such a living world. I could sit on that island for hours just watching the stars and sunsets, or dig into some quality puzzles and story. Fantastic game.

I had RealMyst but the graphics were a little messed up on my computer, so I never got very far. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the adventure/puzzle genre.

Well said Swamp7hing.
Too bad more people haven't played it.

I played both Myst and Riven. They're boring to me now though.

I played the original Myst when it first came out around 1993.

I loved the original Myst, even though I never had the patience to play through the entire thing. I still have an OS 9 CD of it around somewhere (even though I haven't had an OS9-capable machine in a year or two). I also played Myst Online for awhile, but it always felt really small compared to the previous Myst games, which seems weird for an MMO.
Someone's trying to get a Myst-based movie made now, and have even acquired the rights from Cyan:
