Hey guys working on a new game! I pretty much got a good Idea of the player engine, but I'm stumped on the AI. I going to start work on it this weekend, so expect 4 more help topics lol.
Practicing for band audition now so not started, auggh I'm so nervous, there is going to be some tough competition! :-/ :-/ :-/

Off topic, what instrument do you play?
On topic, if you're doing this in GM, AI would be a pretty daunting task.

Off topic: Drums, the only instrument that support hyperactivity (if you can harness the hyperness)
AI is going to be hard, I could make it a "race against the clock" game.

A race against the clock would be FAR easier than a race against a bad guy.

Stop discouraging greatness! If old Ben had of said "Gee, a rubber duck would be far easier to create than a device capable of harnessing electricity." than today we'd be using toothpaste powered light bulbs, or worse; Munster cheese powered light bulbs, and that stuff stinks!
More to the point, AI's are as simple or complex as you want them to be. If you want an opponent's car to change direction at certain points in the track, I don't image it to be too difficult. And once you have the bare bones of the AI you can always add to it later. Most importantly, should you indeed find it too difficult to complete, you won't have wasted your time, you'll have attained more experience with the language and built a better assessment of what GM can/can't handle.
If people were to follow the advice often given "Don't attempt it, it's too hard" no one would ever get better at anything. I've made some pretty nifty games in GM by attempting. (and usually you'll find that with a bit of clever thinking, what you want can be achieved. ;) )

Well you're correct though, a race against the clock game would be easier to make. I was just pointing out that we tend to see the work involved in game design more than the enjoyment and benefactors of it.

Either way you look at it a physics engine will need to be entered. plus since their is no hold key down for slow turning command someone like me might hold the key down too long and spin out of control. But once you get a physics engine it will be easy to do the rest.
