Title: Any of you guys feel this way?

I'm unhappy when I'm not programming, building or thinking about building something.
And right now I feel that way.

Interested in making a .99 cent DLC for iOS QoM?

I'm thinking you change the final boss battle so that instead of slaying the dragon, you tame the dragon, who can then take you to another continent(s). Also, you could add side quests in the elf village ("I've lost my _______ go into the caves to retrieve it" or something) to help them rebuild, as well as unlocking the dwarf city (new weapons, battles in the mines)

There's obviously enough tiles in the tileset to make different maps (a dessert, or a snowy area, castle, lighthouse)

Plus you could use the Elathondréoth music.

If you get Silverwind's permission, I'd love to help you design it. The iOS port of QoM is so good, there's no reason you shouldn't make a bit of money off it.

That's an epic idea but adding content's not my strong suit.

Heck, if it's difficult for me I should probably practice it.
I'll ask Silver if he'd allow it.

Silverwind has given us permissions to move forward. In fact he made me a member of Roguesoft, we can use anything he has produced. Shared license. ;D

Sweet. I think a paid expansion to the world of QoM is a great idea.
I'll design a dwarf town later and put the map up here.

I'm thinking you use a dragon to fly between 2 or more continents, like there could be one with a good overworld to fight in.

Additionally, dwarf smiths will forge new weapons (how about single use throwing knives that can hurt/kill enemies before they get to you?)

After traveling to the elf city on another continent (and doing a quest to aid the king or something), the elves help rebuild their town in the original place.

Good ideas?

I like all 3 ideas.
Though I don't know too much about outside our continent. I do know the humans are settlers that travelled from a continent across the sea with neither elves nor dwarves.

Though the continent with elves and dwarves could be much bigger than the maps we've seen. So there could be another race of elves elsewhere in the continent.
We know there are evil cave elves called the Drow. And the normal elves on the surface that make villages in the forest.

Regarding the dwarven city, I don't know how big or deep they are in the mountains. It's the main dwarf empire I think so Stone Basin may be an adventure in itself.

That dragon, I believe is much too fiesty and big to tame. Perhaps among the spoils or in a chest was a dragon egg(or perhaps the wizard that was helping you before with the magic chest, did some more searching after the dragon was slain and found the dragon egg in which after the end of the game, he'd teleport in, put the burden of the egg on you cause you killed the mama). That'd give enough time for the dragon to develop while the main character helps fix up the elven town, does some side quests, maybe defends the human town of lamburgh from invading pirates, to solve the undead uprising happening within the bowels of Stone Basin(iffy idea, undead dwarves would completely make the dwarves in stone basin flush out of their mountains into having to setup camp outside to stay safe and makes them much more vulnerable).
On the plus side that also introduces team fights. You with your sword and your dragon, fighting together.

Nice. Like Pokemon (Charizard used flame thrower, It's super effective)

I think stone basin will have a round city wall, with a town square, and a staircase going into the mines. The mines will be like another dungeon, with goblins or something (almost unrelated, but have you guys seen the Hobbit yet? It's great)

Also, the human empire will be interesting to design. I'll be able to use the lighthouse and castle sprites.

You think it'd be better suited as a QoM 2? Rather than additional content tacked on?

Well, it's an idea, but I don't feel like anyone except Silverwind himself has the right to make an official sequel... I also like the idea of unlocking a second quest after beating the first one. Like how after you beat the Legend of Zelda you unlock the mode where you take 2x damage, or the hard mode of Kirby's Dreamland. Either way, it's gonna use the same code and the same world (just expanded) so I see no reason why it shouldn't just be added on.

Yeah I suppose. I guess the only real reason for a #2 would be the publicity you get from getting the app on the new apps list.

On the topic of publicity, how many downloads have you gotten? Also, I see you've broken the chat box now. Good for you. Progress is being made. I can tell. Or else it no longer works on iOS....

In the last 6 months QoM has been downloaded 416 times.
On average, 4 people download(and supposedly play QoM) a day.

Maybe 1 in 4 if we're lucky. Then again it may be higher. People who download QoM are actually looking for a game to play. Cause QoM isn't very high up or visible in the app store.

Sounds like you guys are coking up some tremendous ideas! Feel free to explore Givaré as much as you want and record whatever you find, wether developing plots or adding history. Givaré was never so much my own world as it was my interpretation of what I found in the world of dreams we all share. I'm delighted to know there are still brave explorers! ;D

A recurring piece of history mentioned in several unfinished games was the Earthsmite; a catastrophe that changed the world and echoes throughout legend in all of its corners today. It featured prominently as the central plot for The Ruins of Elathondréoth. The most I ever deduced about it was this poem, and I can't vouch for its accuracy:

Our history lost to woven spell
our glory cast to earthen well
our fading past and dreams to tell
of Elathondréoth

From whence the strongest men of mail
and every magi once did hail
a kingdom great but doomed to fail
was Elathondréoth

In answer to our call it came
in days before we knew our name
the Ondúil, the Heaven's Flame
fallen from the sun

In mystery and song it taught
changed our hearts and formed our thought
by its light our spells were wrought
like it there was none

But as our hearts in power grew

Gan, I'm assuming the DLC becomes available upon beating the game? Because if I recall correctly, the dwarves closed off Stone Basin because of the recent raid on the Elf village, making it open after the problem is dealt with. Or do parts of it become active if purchased before completion?

I can add a button after the town congratulates you that says "Purchase the rest of the adventure? ($0.99)"
When people play a game, they don't like to see that you can download more adventures. But after they beat the game, if suddenly boom, an option for more adventure pops up. They could be like, heck yeah!

Of course if you'd rather the more content button be on the main screen, I could do that as well.

Another cool idea. If we want to switch from normal tiles to Silver's new fancy tiles....

*Just gave artifact to elves and people are leaving to help repair the elven village, they'll hold a party to celebrate later*
You stand outside the closed under dark cave and ponder all you've went through to save the elves, human village, dwarves and possibly the world when...
*Shooooooom - Green light*
Elven Wizard: Why hello again adventurer!
Elven Wizard: I've been cleaning up the dragon's remains(dragon bones are essential to wizardry research) and happened to come upon this...
*The wizard reaches into his robe and pulls out a shiny dark red egg the size of a human skull*
Elven Wizard: Yes apparently you slayed a mother dragon. Of course dragons aren't inherently evil which means destroying this egg would be a cruel and hideous atrocity.
Elven Wizard: Which is the reason I'm here. The burden of this egg falls on you.
*Hands egg to adventurer*
Elven Wizard: Before I go, I have a gift for you.
Elven Wizard: I've noticed you seem a bit short sighted. Let me fix that....
*Whole screen goes white, fades back to normal*
*Wizard is gone and new tiles are in place where older tiles were*

You know what? I got a good feeling about this. The people I see posting here have stuck around even when we've become such a small community. It sounds like a project we can finish.

I love making characters and monsters. And tile artwork. And puzzles. And music.

I used to feel that way all the time a few years ago, but I've been so busy with my real job that I haven't felt like doing much programming. However I was just showing someone my web site and looking through some of my old games and things on there and I was thinking Wow. I really want to update some of this stuff and make some new things.

Great to see you're still around old boy! :D I'm enjoying the after Christmas lull at the toyshop, as well as the resulting increase in free time, which I'm spending song writing and teaching people the good news about Jesus. I've been hit with game ideas from time to time that I'd love to follow up, but it would require brushing up on JavaScript and HTML5, so I'm not banking on it anytime soon. I've lost all patience with web development!

You guys seem to be buzzing away with projects though! :D Are there any RPGs in the works? Where's Eq these days?
