Title: Random Maps in GM
Post by: Tireas Dragon on December 30, 2009, 06:09:11 PM
This is a small game I made in GM that uses random maps. So now for the first time ever (i think) a GM game with a random map generator.
The games name is kiss the girl.
  Download link (http://www.mediafire.com/?5ynwvldyydz)
WARNING: Game could contain content that may be considered inappropriate for children. The game has been rated PG.
I give complete credit to WarHampster for the land graphics and Silverwind for the sprite graphics.

That's really nice. Though my nephew was standing next to me when I beat the game. Unfortunately according to statistics, when people below the teenage years are exposed to sexual content, it increases their sexual activity by 30% in their teenage+ years.
Though I like how there are always open paths and such so the player can always move on a path.

Think.
It causes pain, strife, addictions, women viewed as objects instead of what they deserved to be viewed as. Increase in teen pregnancy, spread of STDs, ect... It literately clouds their minds to the point that most of the time that's what they think and it affects their actions.

LOL (I wouldn't really call it sexual content)

Yeah, I guess my reaction to it was a bit overboard. It popped up unexpectantly, my nephew's eyes stared at the screen, then he silently walked away(which he never is silent or walks). Truthfully this is classified as sexual content but clearly the statistic was aiming at something a bit more extreme.
Sorry about pulling this off topic a bit, really cool engine though.

Do you believe in birth control?

No way. It's right up there with Santa and the Easter Bunny. Completely fake. (Mike, don't try to pull this further off topic. If you want to discuss various birth control topics you can pm me. I can hand over statistics, stories and even pharmacies)

WOW!! That's incredible! How did you do it TD? I've often pondered a random dungeon generator but never passed the pen and paper stage. Your engine is absolutely incredible, and if my reasoning is correct you did it all on a single card, right? I'd love to see the source.

Believe me it wasn't easy. My brother gave me a LOT of tips. After the creation of the V7 engine I knew it would be possible. All I had to do was make it.

I am sure in SC it would be a whole lot easier considering you can use arrays and stuff.

Did you use the "make and connect rooms" approach? I don't even know how that would work without arrays.

I tried to make a rouge like game with random maps once. I failed.

This rocks!

it would also work better in sc cause it could load maps instantly instead of loading each sprite one at a time

i dont really see where the random aspect comes in, looks like theres a hundred pre-programmed areas?, can you explain in more detail what this system does?

my only compaint is the ending picture isnt sexual enough, its actually in no way sexual or provacative, what was speed racer rated anyway, G or PG?

Well the areas aren't preprogrammed they are remade every game make a few games and you will see that the start locations look different. (you could also look at the files and see that they change as well.) Its not 100 different sets of random maps. The files are just my way of using arrays in GM. I can access a file in a very similar way of accessing an array variable so its pretty much the only way I could do it.

P.S. Speed racer was rated PG.

Actually, sex is the strongest and most emotional physical connection two people can have, normally initiated out of the love and affection between two of the opposite sex - who, by that point, would never think of the other as an 'object'.
Not everyone is a sex addict. :P And sex, if safe, really isn't bad. It's not wrong, either. It's actually the purpose of human life.
But this topic isn't to debate the pros and cons of intercourse, anyway.
Its to talk about this game.
WHICH ROCKS.

Yes, I agree. Very awesome how you(TD) were able to make a map/path maker.
