Hey Eq, would you be able to post a link to the character centered V5? I'm gonna make the character centered V6 soon and the the original would be a useful reference.

So you got like a huge world map sprite and it moves instead of your character?
Other than saving cards what reason would you have for that.

You quickly run out of dungeon layouts working with 7x7 grids.

Well, awhile ago I tested it with the entire overworld of MF and it ran only fractionally slower, but with NPCs and other stuff to move as well it probably would slow down more noticeably. I'm gonna be chopping the map into pieces though, making a standard "room" size and fitting the code to that.

Its interesting. Seem to work alright. I tried it once in GM but it occured to me that you would run out of code for collisions. Not to mention AI.

In other words he will be doing something like this
gridlayout1$ = "lotsofmywallsandnumbers"
gridlayout2$ = "moreofmywallsandnumbers"
gridchecking$ = gridlayout1$
then the spot script
IF spot > 255 THEN
spot = spot - 255
gridchecking$ = gridlayout2$
END IF
square$ = MID$ gridchecking$ spot 1
Something along those lines.
