Title: DungeonRealms game progress
Post by: Johna100 on May 24, 2013, 11:55:27 AM
Im making an RPG game in silver creator. At the start you customize your party of four's stats. In the game you travel through forests and landscapes before reaching the dungeon. Along the way you face challenges, decisions, fight monsters and find Items. I have just started making it and its going to be a very simple game. Like really simple. But it should be good. Reply to this post if you are interested in playing it when its done.

Okay I'm definitely going to try this when it comes out then! Silver Creator should work well for a text adventure, but remember we're always here to answer questions.

Thanks for the support, glad you are excited. The game is turning out well but don't expect a novel or anything.

I don't have much to do during the day so I have a lot of time to make this game. I would say Im already almost done. Its a short game. I completed most of the adventure and Im working on the actual dungeon. The dungeon will be about the same length as the adventure that happens before. I should have a playable version uploaded within the next week. :) Like I said its a simple short game but It should be fun.

Sweet.
I'm thinking maybe the GMG should host a challenge for short adventure text games. Those are always fun and spark the most creativity.

That would be a good contest.

Here is the download for the game. There is one glitch. :'( When you open the game the first time it says your party has died before you even start playing but once you open it the second time you will be able to play. Make sure your mouse pointer is at the edge of your computer screen when you open the game or else you will get a message that says your party has died. ;D Don't forget to post a reply if you like it.

Playin it right now.

I love the fact that you can specify player stats.

(Though it would be nice if it didn't take so long to give them all 350 points)

Edit: Got stuck at this part:
Quote
You walk down the trail to the entrance of the forest. Here there is a sign that says, "Beware of Goblins". The trail continues into the forest.
-----
"walk forest" doesn't seem to do anything.

I got to a stone door in a cave and could not progress. I also found that I don't know how to go backward out of the cave. Does it save automatically? And if so, would it have deleted my save if I accidentally got the bug where you die when you open the game?

These bugs 0.o

Sorry no save and you cant go backwards lol. The stone door you have to have enough skill to open it. Its a simple but hard game. My next game will be more user friendly and you can even go backwards lol. But you will not be able to save in my next game either because it will have to many variables. You will defiantly like my next game im working on. :)

Doesn't Silver Creator's save function basically do a save-state? As in being able to load and continue the program wherever it was at the time? You could have specific points where players are allowed to do this so they won't abuse it...

That's GM. SC does have a way to save but you have to pretty much save each variable by hand.
Doable but ugly if you have a ton of variables.
