Old Graphics
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:18:51 AM »
I was rummaging around my HD trying to sort out which files had survived the crash, when I came across some very old artwork in the Roguesoft folder:

Some of the graphics were used in Epicus, others went on to become crude roughs for tiles, but some of them are lost to my memory entirely. I just thought it was kinda cool to dig up old stuff from way back when I first started game designing.

Has anyone else got buried treasure on their HD?

They sure have. :) I was only a year or so into cartoons when I found GM. How did you become an artist Eq?

btw, I'd still love to see some figure drawing tutorials if you ever get the time.

It is a shame you can't get Epicus anymore. (I lost it after my hard-drive died and I can't download it from the download menu because Roguesoft is offline.)
I must be dreaming (wake up me wake up) How could this have happened. Tireas' cry when he found his computer fallen over in his chair with it's screen shattered.

I have an un-compiled copy: http://www.mediafire.com/?zmdjyw3hmej

Unfortunately one of the things that didn't survive the crash was my folder of deprecated GM releases. GM 3.9.5 is required to run Epicus properly, as the CLEAR command was changed in 3.9.6 to wipe the picture as well as the text field.

I think I have fixed enough bugs to play it. If I have fixed the bugs I'll send it back to you and you can re-release it if you like.
EDIT: Ok i think i got most of the bugs. You should be able to play it fine. So you can re-release it now. (I added a press escape to skip intro movie feature which you can keep or get rid of if you like) Click Here
EDIT: Almost forgot don't press any keys in run mode or you will restart the movie and if you press esc you will freeze the game (You would have to press Command+Q and then Command+R to get back to normal and strangely enough you won't be running the game)

:o I'm intrigued to say the least. *goes to check out*

EDIT:

Wow! Thanks TD, you did a great job! :) I'll put it back on the Roguesoft site when I can afford to host it again. I'm thinking of making an Epicus Gold edition to mark its third anniversary too.

I'm trying to find my old backups from the Power Macintosh 7300 that used to be my main Mac. When I got a new iMac G4, I used it to burn some CDs of the hard drive. The whole hard drive fit on only two CDs!

Here's my desktop as it was, a few days before I switched to the iMac: http://mikerichardson.name/tidbits/MikeDesktop-07-31-2002.jpg

I still have an OS 9 Mac but it's a lot better than the 7300 was.

CLEAR TEXT should clear just the text and CLEAR PICT should clear just the picture. CLEAR used alone clears both.

I'm finally back online! My internet was down for almost a month. Now It's twice as fast as before.

Yeah, Epicus uses the CLEAR command though, which kinda scrambles the battle engine. TD's done a great job updating it though; I've long lost the patience! ;D

Aha, I was just about to start a "Where's Al?" thread, hehe... guess I'll go with "Where's Disney's Brain?" instead.
