No I think the point of the Challenges was to get people to try making something different. You don't have to finish anything.
I'm just happy I got my program to count to the beat of a song, that was cool! I may or may not make mine into a whole game.
My challenge was basically can anyone else make a game that follows music like that and/or is based on music somehow?

If you guys can't/don't want to figure out how I put together my tempo program I can help, I could even port it to SC.

The challenge was making a game, this is just part of it. If you want to figure it out yourself it isn't all that hard.

Mines going to be like guitar hero. In the way that you have to time hitting the icons, but your performance will determine plot. you could replay the game a bunch of times and continue getting different endings, and to beat it you have to get all the endings in an achievement type window. Once you do that you can skip around the levels, and such.
I may even make a secret undocumented (possibly alien related) secret ending.
All the music will be piano by my family.

Sounds really cool, how does your playing affect the story? Is it based on good or bad outcomes??

yep. For example. There is one song I played when I was young called ballad. where every now and then there's a G tonic chord (I'm being so specific so you can youtube it) and you have to time it as persice as possible, or you'll get caught sneaking through the house you broke into, for a reason I can't say w/ out ruining the game.

This game sounds fun. I should work on my music thing again. But not today, I want to play with that platformer I started, with the square guy.

Okay, I've used my "beat detector" I posted earlier to make a game that sends notes across the screen that you have to click like DDR but with the mouse. It's working so well I could make a game out of it now. But I still want to see if there's any way I can make it less like Bit Trip Beat. I'm open to ideas of how to make it more interesting.
The coolest/craziest idea I had was to give you a character that moves around (platformer anyone?) and has to hit things at the right time. But it's also really complicated, so maybe not.
I'm going to send out some messages to people here asking if I can use music they made so if you have a song you want in the game tell me. I've been testing it with a free song that's a remix of the World 1 Music in Super Meat Boy. (that's what's in the first demo up there)
