You know what to do. Though maybe it won't do anything.

Nobody has said much about Windows for a while.

Is that why there hasn't been a QOTM?

No, it's just that only Ghost knows how to change it. I've tried to figure it out a few times to no avail.

<td align="left" width="35%" valign="top" style="font-size:10px;"><center><b>Quote of the Month</b></center>
<b>GabrielCA:</b> Why is it that the QotM invariably concerns how Windows sucks? Perhaps you could be a little more creative. <br /><br />
<b>Gandolf:</b> I agree. We need to think of more creative ways to say "Windows sucks". Any suggestions?

Aye, but that HTML is generated dynamically via PHP files.

I've taken a few PHP courses in my day, so I could probably figure out what's going on.  You could email/private message me the relevant code so that nobody steals Tim's hard work.   ;D

*Edit* Oh yeah, email address is sinistercharlo <<<<at>>>> gmail <<<<dot>>>> com

*Edit2* I don't know why I took such pains to make my email address unreadable to web-crawlers, since I'm getting tons of spam anyway.

I cannot locate the file that generates the message, that's the trouble.

EDIT:

The backend is quite messy.

Huh.  Maybe /cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi.  It looks like the base board code was edited in order to add extra cells to the HTML table which holds the date and the notification of private messages.  So now the table holds an ad as well as the quote of the month.

I'm guessing that the quote of the month is not retrieved from the database or anything like that; it's probably just hard-coded into whatever file it's in.  I could be wrong about that.

It sounds a bit odd, but we're currently displaying October's QotM, and now is the time to vote for November's . This is because we vote for the funniest post in the month the voting takes place. For example, at the end of October, Gnome's "In soviet Russia, Objective-C Regulate you!" post was the funniest post of the month (of October), so we display it all throughout November.

In other words: at the end of November we display the funniest quote of November, and so on.
