First Ladriere Tournament

The 'First Ladriere Tournament'

Hopefully the first of many alternative game design tournaments to test your skills, without making you crunch time with annoying, yet necessary tasks.

This tournament is a mash-up of some of your favorite old-style games. Hopefully in a graceful way.

You are only aloud to use graphics from this media fire folder
http://www.mediafire.com/?124sthhs2amde
And you have to use every graphic in there (not including the whole sprite sheet of anything, just a good amount of it, and you don't have to use the cat from LuistheCat2.png) You don't have to use the music there.

The next twist is that you can only use GameMaker, SilverCreator, or TNT BASIC.

deadline friday the 9th
plot, and innovation will be the key factors to winning (which will be done by vote among community members)

The only reward will be glory.

Looked at sprites given. All were ripped from Nintendo games...
What?
I guess it would hafta be some kinda parody of Sonic and Zelda.

Yeah tons of people have ripped old nintendo games, so finding those were easy. I originally wanted to make the monsters 2D minecraft monsters, but couldn't find those (go figure)

we'll I guess we can just count this off as a failiure, but one good thing did come of it
http://www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda01Midis.php

never gonna run out of game music  [smiley=grin.gif]

yeah this was right before the update, so it kinda got overshadowed.

Why tell us we can only use the graphics in the folder, instead of saying you can only use sprites from http://spriters-resource.com/ or something like that? That gives us more to work with and less work for you. It's a win-win.

I think it would be good to find more original sprites or at least less common. It would get people interested. But that's just how it goes, finding better sprites takes longer.

The idea was to see everybodies ideas branch off of the limited resources. "limitation breeds imagination"

Why not put in sprites of a hippo, an eskimo, backgrounds from mario and all kinds of hats. If you couldn't make an imaginative game with those, you have no soul.  [smiley=lolk.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
