Devlog-Salvation Trail 1st tech demo
« on: December 02, 2010, 09:23:16 PM »
Well I guess I'll get the ball rolling with these.

My Planned game for the GMG Cup will be a tribute to the classic Oregon trail games, called Salvation trail.

Following a meteor strike, you hear of a bunker of somekind, you know you must make it there before it closes, so through the shanty towns and city ruins you go! All in your barely running RV.

The great thing about this game is that the hardest part about is making fluent animations.

Stuff you will do:
-Manage food, gas, supplies, your family.
-Do jobs and minigames in the enviroment, maybe a town needs you to defend it? Maybe you find a run down convenience store amazingly unlooted.
-Run away from or fight raiders chasing you down!
-This will be ~80% random events, so a unique experience each time!
- and much, much more stuff, just don't want to give it all up yet!

Hey eq I wish you had given the same warning for me when I first started out. But its different for Gnome considering how long he has known the language and how long he has been here.

Considering the ratio of time in GM vs. how long I've been here, Eq may be on to something.

Then again. It'll probably be less complex then an RPG. It's really a bunch of minigames in a very fancy random generator.

Minigames are fun!
It actually sound like the hard part may turn out to be working out various factors affecting the passengers, i e food, overall health, sickness(es)...

Honestly Gnome, that is a little over the top. I would make sure you have a basic version of this playable (driving and fighting or something) before working on stuff like minigames and quests.

I have confidence that this will work out if you plan it effectively.

Good luck!

I had no idea what was going on ???

BTW, I was looking through your media fire page, and I think I might make my game in Gnome Creator rather than Silver Creator.

If that was an attempt at sarcasm it might of worked if your spelling and grammar style wasn't always that same way anyway. :P

I couldn't figure out what was going on. Probably since I've never played the original either.

Its a tech demo confirming movement and things that happen right. Not much to you guys, but big for me :D

And Warhampster, unfortunately I did not approve Gnome Creator for the list, it was far too powerful!
