Cool stuff's a brewin' guys! (wow, what a grammatically incorrect sentence) Now not only can you explore the isles of Fáden alongside your friend, but also with your trusty housebroken companion. That's right, I've added pets to the game. :)

Pets follow you around the overworld and assist you in battle. They won't actually attack enemies themselves, but give you stat increases. Here's a demonstration:

With 2 players playing at the same time, each one with their own pet, that's 4 friendly sprites on screen at once! Weeeeeee! Man, I can't wait to finish the beta. :)

thats a nice feature. it looks like when you attack your sprite overlaps the opponent so you have to go back and forth, theres no way to have them attack without moving onto the other sprite?

I've pondered that during development, and while it would certainly consume more code I don't think it would be very difficult to program. I'll stay with the current system for the first beta, but I'll think about upgrading it in the next one.

I'd have to plan dungeons more carefully in order to prevent enemies blocking passages as well, hehe...

Looks good... are you going to make a attacking animation for when you hit an enemy?

Being a master of GM (yes I am and I don't care what others say) I would think that doing that would be incredibly hard.
I must be dreaming (wake up me wake up) How could this have happened. Tireas' cry when he found his computer fallen over in his chair with it's screen shattered.

It would look so much cooler, but I don't think so simply because it'd be very time consuming editing each sprite. Maybe in a far away update though. :)

Doing what? What Eq suggested or what Warhampster suggested?

If you don't make an animation at least have a attacking noise or make the tile shine red.

There is an attacking noise. :) I don't think the sound was enabled in the most recent video, but the sounds of Attack, Enemy Death and Player Death are audible in the first video. (they're very low volume though)

Check it out if you haven't seen it, it's cool: http://screencast.com/t/iwDyJb0vDTk

I totally forgot about this game! It still sounds awesome. The pet system rocks! Two players + two pets = awesome!

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Teruri, glad you're still interested. :)

Just a thought, but is anyone interested in having NPC counterparts of themselves in the game? You may even get your own quest.

I wouldn't mind, that would actually be really cool.

Ya it is very low, but by listening very carefully I was able to hear a very quiet slicing sound and dying sound, but it was VERY quiet.

I had the sound quite low in the video so that listeners could hear what I was saying, but in the actual game it's clearly audible. I'm still working on a better Enemy Death sound. (I recorded the sounds myself)

Certainly. Here's the humanoid template sheet:

Anyone who's interested, please post the following information about the NPC:

1: Name.
2: Preferred Race.
3: Preferred Class.
4: Sprite Picture.
5: Anything else about your character you'd like to mention.

I may have to alter the content a little to fit the game more, but generally you can create whatever the heck you want. :) (keep in mind that "evil" characters (Goblins, Drow, Duergar, Giants etc) although quite acceptable, won't be found in a player populated area. ie: they'll most likely be in a dungeon instead of a town)

1. Azurro (the Warrior)
2. Human
3. Fighter
4.
5. Altough he has two giant swords, he hardly ever uses them. He is very friendly and only uses them for self defense.
