Blender Animation Questions
« on: April 01, 2014, 08:21:33 PM »
Okay, so I'm a total newbie at Blender, even though I've known the basics for a while now, but it kind of overwhelms me. I manage a lot by guessing, but there's just one question on my mind: How the heck do I make it render an animation with physics?

On your object, the tab at the far right on the right side of the screen should have a bunch of options. Like smoke, physics, fluid.

Make your object have physics properties and tweak em. And then click on your ground and make it a collision object.

Hopefully that'll do it.

Edit: I'll post pics if you can't find it.

Right, I set the physics, I get how to do that, and then I can't figure out how to get it to render using those physics. Apparently in Game Mode, you can press P to run the physics, but this makes it crash for me.

I also would eventually like to figure out how to rig models, but for now I think I'll just focus on basic stuff. Rigging was really difficult last time I tried it.

If physics are enabled, it should just run in the timeline. Hit the play button at the bottom.

Make sure you're not in the game engine.

Alright. I'll try that, thanks. Can you still record keys with physics enabled? I'm actually getting to be pretty good at this.

I wish I knew how to model...

There should be an option in the physics that allow you to hand animate objects some.

Err... This is weird. Gravity is enabled, I have the object's physics properties set. (rigid body and a collision object)

But for some reason it isn't animating with physics. Do I have to manually enable physics other than giving objects physics in the physics tab of the properties window?

Blender is great because there's so many options, but it can be seriously vexing.

Does the object already have keyframes and would this overwrite the physics simulation?

Probably not. You might need to go into the world settings and clear the physics cache.

You can try attaching the blend file and I can play with it.
