Let's make a cartoon

Brainstorm! Go!

Alright, so, I had this idea for a short cartoon called Space President, wherein an alien tries to run for president of the United States as part of a scheme to take over the world. Except he happens to understand nothing about A. human culture, and B. American politics. But I'm not really one for political humor, but I wouldn't make it opinionated in the typical sense, just poking fun at American politics and culture. I do have a few rough sketches of theoretical characters I could scan in if there's interest.

I am, as ever, open to doing a TBMSBC cartoon, but it would need to have an AMAZING '80s/'90s cartoon theme song. XD
The trouble with this lies in finding a voice actor for theoretically more than one female lead.

Now, stylistically, I'm thinking either entirely photoshop psuedoart  or the more standard bold outline, exaggerated, brightly colored simplistic look seen in shows like Adventure Time and the like, using minimal 3D animation in places (like Futurama or Invader Zim, which utilize 3D in certain places). I could also see using scanned drawings and making it very doodly, but that seems a bit cliche at this point. I am capable of making art for any of these styles. I just suck at animation.

Any other ideas? I'd like to hear them.

Sounds as good of a storyline as any.

I don't think we'll achieve pokemon quality animation. Probably more like south park quality. Where there's less moving parts and more moving as a whole.

For graphics, probably just wing it. Find images, crop them right, draw what you can't find. We'll make do.

Alright. I'll write a Space President pilot, and then we'll see.

If you have character designs in mind, I could try drawing it Adventure Time style (but that means slowly, frame by frame) or I could think of ways to make it easier on us. But, like I said, get some character references together for either Space President or TBMSBC (personally I prefer TBMSBC) and maybe we can figure this out!

I'd be willing to write a TBMSBC one, but that would rely on us knowing at least two females, and let's be honest here guys, moms aside, that doesn't seem incredibly likely XD

I'm also slightly worried about standardized audio. Like, we all have different mics and stuff. I'm lucky enough to basically have commandeered a Blue Yeti, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836431024 with a pop filter, so the quality difference between voice tracks will end up being fairly noticeable.

I'll do some sketching later, and see what I think.

I can do a decent job of filtering out background noise and normalizing in audacity.

Until we have actual females, we can either (A) Use the built in almost-realistic female speech voices that got a massive upgrade in OS X 10.7 or (B) Try to talk like women ourselves. It'll be slightly corny but that might suffice.

Well, given that one of the females is a robot (technically a cyborg) that might work.

And I'm getting pretty good at audio editing with Audacity as well.
