I am not dead.
« on: May 24, 2013, 02:19:53 AM »
I just thought I would chime in and say that I am not dead.

I have been through some financial struggles recently though, and a period of depression recently which started after my dog died the day after Christmas 2012.

Fortunately I have mostly overcome the financial problems. You may have noticed SilverCreator.net go offline for a period of time, it was because I forgot to renew the registration :(

I think I will try to update SilverCreator in the next couple of months, to at least address any outstanding issues. I'm also going to look into how SilverCreator works on Lion, since my MacBook Pro died arbitrarily last year and I got a new MacBook Air with Lion. One of the concerns I have is with, Mountain Lion requiring the apps to be "signed" by default. This means that SilverCreator and games made with the runtime might pop up an ugly box that some people might reject.

That's a cute doggy.

Glad you're still alive Mike. :D

Most people disable Gate Keeper, but you'd just need a Mac Developer License to get rid of it. And the plus side of that, SilverCreator would be viable for the app store!

As always, if you need anything- you have my aim.

I'm glad to hear that you're doing OK, Mike.  I was sorry to hear about your dog.  That must've been hard.  When I read your Facebook posts a few months ago, it made me realize that my dog has become a huge part of my life as well.

You should work on SilverCreator again.  You put an incredible amount of effort into making a fully functional game development system, and you should finish it to completion.  Just add in the missing documentation and make a few minor improvements to the scripting language, and SC will be good enough to sell on the app store.  It will be a source of income that is long overdue, and more importantly, it could lead to getting a really good job in the software development industry (if you still want that).

Sorry about your troubles, Mike.  It's good to know that SC is not abandonware, but real life is always the first priority.

Not to shamelessly plug my stuff or anything (oh who am I kidding, I am shamelessly plugging my stuff), but I just released an SC game in April called Bug Run: http://www.charlo.gamemakersgarage.com/games/viewGame.php?id=8 .  So people are still using the great game-making tool you gave us.  :)

Speaking of not shamelessly plugging things I think I'll post the source files of my Silver Creator platformer for people to dissect. SC was always fun to use.
