The Raspberry Pi is an inexpensive, single board computer that can be used in creative ways. raspberrypi.org

Here's a topic about all sorts of ideas for the Pi. Pideas.

Emulator

I think I may buy a Raspberry Pi, 2 USB NES controllers, and a 16GB SD card to make a sweet NES emulator that I can take with me anywhere.

I'd load all the good NES game ROMs on the SD card, then make a UI that can be operated with the D-pad and the A and B buttons that starts up once the Pi boots (just a game select screen, an alphabetical list)

then, I'd take two NES cartridges (SMB and Excitebike), and make a case out of them. (By cutting off the top of Excitebike and the bottom of SMB and gluing them back together so that you have one large hollow space to put the board in, then putting something in there to hold the board in place. I might have to the bottom of the case open up so that I can access the Pi. Anyway, you'd have all the ports exposed at the bottom or top of the carts so you could plug in controllers.)

I guess this is a pretty cool idea.

A system for playing text based games (which I can make left and right, cuz they're easy.)

Ok, so you guys know Artichokes in Space? Well, the Pi does Python really well (or should I say PI-THON! LOL)

I was thinking I could have my friend actually fix up that code and then I could make a better game that would run on a Pi. Just because the Raspberry Pi is so awesome.

Play MC

There's a Raspberry Pi version of MC (similar to Pocket Edition) that will run on one board, but if you link up multiple, you can play the regular version of MC.

Host a server

Although one Pi isn't very fast, it might be able to host a server for MC (a very laggy one)

but linking up multiple of them could be a cheap way to get a server going (possibly)

The Pi sounds like a fun and versatile device.

Server doesn't require graphics drawing, so it'd probably run an MC server quite decently.

The thing about running a server on a Pi is that the video card of the Pi is way better than the CPU or the RAM. It does 1080p video really well (I'm thinking of making a home media center thingy like a cheap Apple TV).

It may run a server, but it'd be a waste of the great graphics.

The Minecraft Pi Edition is really easy to mod (and has multiplayer support, oddly enough.)

I might get a Raspberry Pi and try it. It is a bit laggy without overclocking, though.

I'll wait until I have a case, my current "case" is the box it came in with a hole in it to put the cables through.

Man that's just epic. I really should save up for one of these, or an Arduino, so I can try and make robots. think of all the toys I could make and then take apart to make new ones! o.O

So, like, we get to see a webcam of sorts and we control a robot through the chat box!

That'd be sweet (and entirely possible) except for the budget issue. No budget = no robots...
