My original story was going to be, where the player grew up on an Island, and one day strange things started happening.

A powerful enemy from some far region has set his eyes on the Mainland and the islands around the Mainland. He starts conquering each island, cutting off trading, and than he attacks your island. You rise up against him, just some average village teen and save most of your island, and than he escapes to another place to start there. And you go after him, getting better and more popular. It could be a series of games. Like the first with you defending the island, and when he starts moving about, you can have sequels on a few other islands, and than finally the Mainland. The big bad guy could be a powerful wizard.

Thats just my $00.02  , anyone else have any ideas?

Well my interpretation was that it was a free roaming game where you are a pirate. So this is my idea. You hire a crew, upgrade your ship or buy a new one, and just go around doing...piratey stuff. Instead we could give you points based on Fame, Gold horad, ship, and rank. You can become a priveteer and gain ranks in a nation's navy.

Your Crew
You hire a crew and give them jobs.
Gunner
You need to have 2 people for each gun on your ship, any less and it won't fire.
Sails-men
You can't move with out 3 sails-men on each sails
Surgeon
Can heal crew
Carpenter
Repairs ships while you're at sea
entertainers
increases crew morale

Ships[/u]
Sloop
Starting ship; very fast
Frigate
Well balanced, overall good ship
War ship
Lots of guns but slow
Ship of the line
The best ship, everything is perfect

Ship upgades[/u]
Brass guns
Fires Faster
Fine Grain
Cannons do more damage
Cotton Sails
Ship moves faster

Towns[/u]
In friendly towns you can upgrade your ship and buy goods.  Enemy towns you can siege and turn into a "pirate oasis".

Battles[/u]
You have there options
Board
If you win you can take the enemy ship. If you board you have to duel the captain.
FIRE
you bombard a ship, but get nothing in return
RUN AWAY
you run away.
This Cannot be, NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Haha i didnt mean entirely. I meant a game along the lines of it. A space RPG with trading, battle, and ship upgrades. It seems probable, using the scrolling engine. Speaking of which...

I love EV Nova. I had hoped it would become Online or they would make a newer version of it.

That is a good idea, though we could put the pirate ship and the EV Nova idea together. Maybe we could have, instead of space ships, pirate ships. And we can make it in the theme of EV Nova, but be roaming the seas instead of space. Land instead of worlds.

Just throwing out ideas...  What do you guys think?

I agree 100%, thats pretty much exactly what I was going for. we could have a multitude of islands (I'd say around 18, each with a few navigation cards), and they could link to eachother through the vast seas that you traverse in a ship. Minus the "Warp Drive", It would be really great to pull off. All we need is a real time battle system.

We can make that. Though it will take timers, and lots of "out of the box" thinking...

My little NPC in Athora moves around, though it is really screwed. I had a little trouble getting him to do what I needed. Anyone skilled in making NPCs?

Once we give the npc moving capabilities, we can focus on the npc actually shooting, which will probably be a bit tougher.

Any ideas from Silverwind or Mistron?

Yup. I'll need a complete list of NPC classes with detailed explanations on what you want each class to do. (what entities are solid to them, what actions they'll take upon collision with other classes etc.)

I'll probably have to wait until most of the engine is built before working on them though.

Thanks  :D

If anyone agrees on making the Ev Nova Theme Pirate Game, than lets get started with:

Classes:
 Â   Types:
 Â   Upgrades:
 Â   Storylines:
 Â   Items:
 Â   Special Attributes:

Land/Islands:
 Â   Inhabitants:
 Â   Feelings:
 Â   Supplies/Stores:
 Â   Alliances:

 Â
Enemies:
 Â   Types:
 Â   Special Attributes:
 Â   Feelings toward certain Classes:

 Â
Maps:
 Â   World Map:
 Â   Island Placement:
 Â   Special Landmarks:

Layout:
 Â  Graphics:
 Â          Main Menu:
 Â          Character Sprites:
 Â          Tiles:
 Â          Playing Interface:
 Â          Inventory:

And that is a list of what I could think up of what we would need right now...

Anyone have anything more to add to the list? Or maybe ideas to put in the catagories?

I will upgrade this list with every new thing we add in.

-Gandolf

Edit: Ah, just took a look at the Scrolling background Alias. Looks great though we could make it have a bit smoother movement.

Looks great, we should make this into anther topic. The list alone could fill a board. So many ideas.... where to begin? I'll start coming up with maps and islands, and possibly a little bit of classes. This is going to be a great game.
