Hi there, my online alias is Telstar but my real name is James as many of you know. I live in the United Kingdom in the middle of nowhere.
I go to a public FE college, studying for a BTEC in IT and Media. I'm a student representative in the college's Student Association (I was also the only person in the college to attend the national demonstration against budget cuts to education and other public services - also one of the few who saw the Millbank riot develop which I fully approve of and am excited to be in a generation that might actually change something for once). I plan on going to Westminster university to study a software engineering degree and then hopefully I'll start a business called NuAge Computing (which I am already in the process of registering), selling a viable alternative to the Mac (hopefully in the future there'll be three options; PC, Mac and NuAge
)
I work part time as a projectionist in a local independent theatre and cinema. My hobbies include technology, photography, poetry, socialist and democratic politics, vintage tech, journalism, tobacco blending and drinking tea (obviously). My musical tastes are eclectic (I like a bit of everything, really - rock, jazz, experimental electronic, minimal, acid house, goth, a tiny bit of metal, reggae, political hip hop, classical blah blah blah) but my favourite band of all time (been listening to them for 10 years and still haven't got bored) is Add N to (X). My favourite film of all time has to be Twelve Monkeys. My favourite book is The Catcher in the Rye.
As far as my programming work is concerned, I was never really any good at making games and didn't release the stuff I made on GameMaker when I was a lot younger. I've been frequenting the scene since about 2003 and only released one game, which was called Terrorists (which I can't find anymore
). I planned another game called Cyberdelia, but that never got very far.
I make a lot of software in Realbasic. One of these applications was SimpleCard, a GM/SC type clone with an emphasis on extreme simplicity. Redd helped me make it and he's awesome for that reason
Currently I'm working on a workgroup server type application, which is designed to be totally portable. It's hit some design issues mid-development, to the point that it may need totally stripping down and restarting (I combined the function of server and client in the same program - which works for a while, but it's so complicated that it has become totally unmanageable).
That's all I have to say, a full pamphlet is available from J. Stafford Publishing for £20 each
