MineCraft

So who else has been wasting too much time on this awesome indie game?

www.minecraft.net

In the alpha (paid) version, you collect resources and crops to build stuff and tools (I say stuff because its literally what ever, people have make like pokemon statues)

There are dungeons, monsters, and endless mods and gamemodes to keep you having fun! (forwarned, little of this comes with the game, you need to know where to find stuff)

If enough people have it, we can start our own server!

I love this game and am still playing the "trial" version from  when the site crashed a while back. I'm not going to be able to play multi-player until I buy the game and that's not going to be until i get a job (which is almost impossible at 14).

I have seriously thought about buying this game because on every forum I frequent, there is a thread about it.  It must be good, right? ;D

Seriously though, this game looks really good and I will probably purchase it soon.  Even the free creative mode is a blast.

There's been of talk of buying space to host a dedicated server for my forum, my friends are really in to Minecraft!

As a game developer Minecraft is a hugely heartening success story. Notch made the game by himself in a language that is frequently bashed as being too slow for games, and now he's making a ridiculous amount of money.

I bought this game and I love this game and that makes me annoyed because it won't work on my home computer and I have to go play it at school and only when the computer with my save on it isn't taken. (takes a breath)
I think making a server sounds great. I don't know how often I can play though.

You could try finding the save file and either
a. put it on a flash drive, or
b. zip it up and email yourself it
I must be dreaming (wake up me wake up) How could this have happened. Tireas' cry when he found his computer fallen over in his chair with it's screen shattered.

Cool, how does one run it of a flash drive? I am curious. Perhaps I will search the forums.

I wouldn't try running it off a flash drive. It would probably be very slow and glitchy. You would have to copy it to the computer first.

I looked it up and you can tell a computer to load the save off a flash drive every time but you would need to do this to every computer you play on and you need admin. So yes, the best way would be to copy the file and save it.

I went on Craft Hub's server (type in chserver.net) and it's very cool, check it out sometime. The mobs still aren't working in multiplayer suvrival mode yet, however. :C
EDIT: Back to that 1st post - Staring a server would be really cool Gnome!

I bought this game a few weeks ago and seriously can't stop playing.  I play on peaceful mode though because I'm more interested in the creative aspect of the game and I don't want to deal with creepers blowing up my stuff.

I just got the game yesterday and its great! I share an account with my younger brother jeffbob45. Anyone here going to start a SMP server? I tried, but my computer wasn't fast enough.
