I'm an atheist, but a brother at the Church of St. Francis in Assisi said it best:
"Even if you don't believe in God, you still have to believe in something."
Personally, I believe that you should respect religion, and appreciate it - but you don't have to believe in it. As long as no one comes knocking on my door trying to force their belief on me, I'm more then okay with religion as a whole.
Let them fight, let them make sense or not, but regardless - it's about faith. And some religions spend more time reinforcing their minute points and spreading their ideals then they do respecting what religion originally came from.
