GameMaker Studio

Why are the only easy-to-use game making tools called Game Maker?

Well, anyway, this one exports to operating systems people use. I'm not sure how to export to mac from windows, but there IS a free Mac version.

You can upgrade to the standard version for free now.

I actually really like GM studio, and it's so easy to make crap in that an untrained monkey such as myself can understand it. So I've begun making a game.

You know, I could probably replicate the physics I was making myself using Processing in no time... Maybe I'll give this a shot! I've seen some fantastic things made with it.

With that I refer you to the older games at the bottom of this page:

The "Jumper" series is made with Game Maker and so is Dim, and I think also An Untitled Story, I'm not sure about the others. I really liked the Jumper games (nice and challenging xD) so check out those or at the very least play the third one if you've got windows.

EDIT: And RunMan! That works on Mac too. Runman is fantastic.

OK SO I have this free Windows version on my other computer (the crappy one) and I might try and learn to use that but I didn't see any free Mac version of YoYo Games' GameMaker. There are trial versions with more than 10 minutes of trial time but still, pretty crappy.

Also the Mac one I tried has an incredibly buggy sprite editor which is fine because I'm gonna import sprites made with other programs but it's still weird.

I didn't realize the Mac one was different at all. The windows version is really nice. Maybe WinE?

I'm just gonna go through some tutorials or whatever on my Windows computer. It runs just fine. If nothing else it's a fantastic way to do mockups for games. Maybe we can use it to make a joint project like that idea you had for Farmageddon.
