Yes folks, it's my yearly reminder to check out Silmar if you haven't done so already: http://dunjax.com/

Silmar is an incredibly awesome random dungeon eploration RPG with a huge roster of items, enemies and class abilities. You can download the entire first half of the game for free, (which took me a solid year to complete) and registration is only $10. I still enjoy this game as much as I did when I first downloaded it, and I've still to overcome the trails of the final dungeon.

Here's a screencast of me starting a new adventure: http://screencast.com/t/zJURcX5T

Lol! Nah, it's my pinnacle of inspiration though, containing everything an RPG needs and plenty of it. Jeff Mather made it, and he gave me some awesome advice on game making as well as explaining how he made Silmar.

Downloaded it on windows, it wouldn't start until I manually launched it from the command line (java -jar silmar.jar).

Not really my type of RPG. The movement was immediately annoying, I was expecting an AI to navigate my character to where ever I clicked (like in RTSes), when the game really just pushes the sprite at your mouse... I would greatly prefer arrow key movement.

Aye, movement was the first (and pretty much only) thing I had qualms with, but the difficulty and diversity of the gameplay more than made up for it.

It was so cool I got to Level 6 and now I'm a Wizard! ;D
I think I'll buy this eventually if I get to that point, how far are you allowed to go in the demo?
(And how far down is the last section?? Do you know?)

There are 20 levels to the labyrinth and you can descend all the way down to 10 before registering. It'll take you a while though; I sent many an adventurer to an untimely demise before outsmarting the fiendish opposition of levels 7 and 8. Good luck! :)
