Those look pretty good. Way better than the masterpieces(stick people) I make.

The first two are good if you're going for a more cartoony look... but the black pixels that you're using as camouflage on their pants stand out way to much. I recommend spending some time shading (especially on the first one) and antialiasing (not needed but could help).

I was always curious but what does antialiasing do other than make games run poorly?
I must be dreaming (wake up me wake up) How could this have happened. Tireas' cry when he found his computer fallen over in his chair with it's screen shattered.

I don't see how antialiasing a sprite would cut a game's performance... (unless you're writing a game for the SMS or something :p)

Nice sprites Gnome. The tank is my favorite. :)

Anti Aliasing is just a fancy term we graphic designers use for "Making a picture look nice!" ;D Basically it's just coloring with specific shades that blend well and therefor look nice. Here's my palette for elves for example:

Most color palettes would consist of 1 mid tone, 2 highlights and 2 undertones for each color. I only use 1 highlight and 1 undertone for most of my sprites due to the very small size however.

I've heard some people say that gradients take allot of the work out of AA, but when working with small images there's one golden rule to remember: Gradients are evil! With the rare exception of metallic objects, gradients usually make things look horrendously unrealistic. Example:

As apparent, the gradient has mutilated the mountain. :/

EDIT:

Wow, Hampster's link gives a great example of use. Where'd you find that? :)

i HATE antialising, it makes colors bleed into each other so its imposible to edit anything later. in photoshop elements i turned it off on the paint bucket and eraser tool but it wont let me turn it off for the line tool which i use to draw, so i have to draw then go over it with the sharpen tool, i end up just useing hyperstudio through classic mode, i need solid pixels!

the tank looks good but i cant see the others

I don't know why but when ever I turn on anti-aliasing in my game it starts to run badly.
